Car Free Days is actually an internationally recognized movement celebrated in major cities all over the world. But in Vancouver, this street festival takes place each summer on the commercial drive between Venables and Grandview. It usually happens in July. What to Know about Car Free Day on Commercial Drive

This commercial drive event first took place in 2005. In 2020, the festival was scheduled to take place on 12 July, Sunday. But unfortunately, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, it was cancelled. In 2021, the festival had a new event (car-free month), which took place between August 29th and September 25th. But in 2022, the day has returned on September 10, Saturday. And it will run from 12:00 to 07:00 PM. 

This festival emphasizes environmental awareness. In this environmentally-friendly event, pedestrians celebrate their life without their cars. Therefore, try to visit the event car-free. 

Here, you will find a lot of entertaining elements, such as musicians, street performers, beer gardens, and more. All kinds of vendors and display tables from local community organizations and businesses line the street at commercial drive. There will be games of road hockey where all the young ones are welcome to play. 

The event features live performances by local artists. Go to the main stage, located at the commercial drive and east 3rd Avenue! It has a lot of offers to the visitors. Whether you crave a meal, a place to shop or somewhere to relax, everything is available here! From children to adults - all are allowed in this family-friendly event.
